Staying Rooted When Life Starts Life-ing

There comes a moment when God whispers, “Let go… I’ve got you.” This is for anyone learning how to listen.

My God is awesome, He can move mountains
Keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain
My God is awesome, heals me when I'm broken
Strength where I've been weakened, forever He will reign...
My God is Awesome…

This morning that song rose up in my spirit again — uninvited but right on time. And as it played on repeat in my mind, there I was… being human… letting my thoughts run a little too far ahead of me.
I had to get quiet, breathe, and let God’s truth wash over me so I could steady myself.
And Sparkle Bestie, I know I’m not the only one. Sometimes we all let our thoughts run wild before we remember Who’s really in control.

What I feel God teaching me in this season is dependency.

To a woman who thought she spent her whole life “depending on herself,” that lesson hits different. Because through surrender, God revealed that even when I thought I was doing it alone, it was only ever by His grace.
But since I wasn’t asking Him to guide me daily — since I treated prayer like a last-resort emergency hotline instead of a lifestyle — the journey was harder than it needed to be.
Jesus says, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
So if the burdens felt heavy?
It’s because I was carrying what He already offered to hold.

Over the years, as our relationship has grown, He’s shown me that no problem of mine is too big for Him. Every mountain that looked immovable, every valley that felt bottomless — He walked me through all of it.
But whew… Sparkle Bestie… it’s so easy to forget, isn’t it?
Sometimes I feel like the Israelites — blessed but forgetful — dealing with a little spiritual amnesia every time a fresh obstacle appears. And I know I’m not alone. When life starts life-ing, we can all find ourselves acting just like them: so focused on hunger, thirst, fear, and the pressure right in front of us that we forget the miracles right behind us.
God provided manna.
God brought water from a rock.
God guided them day and night.
Yet they still panicked and reached for quick fixes.
And honestly? Same.

How many times have we missed what God was trying to do because we got impatient?
If you felt that in your spirit… yeah. Me too.
When God doesn’t move fast enough, we grab the wheel, try to “help Him out,” and end up delaying the very thing He was orchestrating for our good. But God — being loving, steadfast, and merciful — meets us with forgiveness. He helps us recover lost time. He realigns us.
Seriously… glory to God for that.

So what does depending on God really look like?
I go back to the secret place. I ask:
Lord, show me where I’m not taking action — and show me what I need to release to You.
Because yes, we trust God, but we also move. Faith without works is dead — so dependency is not passivity. It’s partnership.

Here’s what dependence looks like for me:
Humility & Self-Awareness
Finally recognizing my limitations and admitting that lasting change only comes through Him.
Surrendering Control
Releasing outcomes, timelines, and the need to orchestrate everything.
Reliance on His Word
Letting Scripture and the Holy Spirit be my source of direction — the way a branch draws life from the vine.
Strength in Weakness
Letting God shine through the places where I feel most fragile.
Facing the Impossible
Standing in situations where my strength fails — and watching His strength take over.
Unusual Delays & Spiritual Silence
Learning patience and trust when God is quiet or moving slower than my expectations.
Clarity & Gratitude
Seeing life more clearly as the fog of self-reliance lifts, noticing blessings with a renewed heart.
Being the Branch
Understanding that apart from Him, nothing I build has lasting fruit.
God Goes Before Me
Trusting that He’s clearing the path long before I step onto it.

Depending on God, if I’m honest, has been downright terrifying at times. Trusting the unseen. Releasing control. Waiting in silence. But at this point, there’s no turning back. His Word has proven itself too many times. He’s shown up for me in seasons that should’ve taken me out.
And even when His timing stretches me to the edge of patience?
He always comes through.
Oh, how I wish I never forgot His goodness — life would feel so much easier, right? But if I never had moments of forgetting, I’d start depending on myself again. And God doesn’t want a false sense of dependency from us. He wants our whole trust.
He wants to give us peace in uncertainty.
He wants us to trust His plan when His voice feels faint.
He wants us to hold onto His promises in the wilderness.

And if you’re in a season like that right now, Sparkle Bestie, please know:
You are not walking it alone.
God is with you — and I’m rooting for you.
Wherever He has you right now, He is transforming you.
And even if the provision doesn’t look like what your heart desires yet…trust that He knows exactly what He’s shaping within you.
One of my favorite lyrics from the song “God Has a Plan (Trust. Wait. Believe.)” says:
“What I think should happen in my life might not be what sets my spirit right. But His blueprint is so much more divine. And His timing is always by design.”
We’re learning this together.
We’re growing together.
And we’re depending on God together — one day, one prayer, one surrender at a time.

Let’s Pray About It
As we continue learning how to depend on God — in the waiting, in the wilderness, in the moments that stretch us — let’s end this reflection by going to Him together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being an awesome God — the One who moves mountains, quiets storms, and steadies our hearts when our thoughts race ahead of Your truth. Thank You for the gift of today and the reminder that You are still in control.
Lord, we surrender our need to control and understand everything. Teach us to depend on You fully, freely, and without hesitation. Help us release the burdens You’ve been asking us to place at Your feet.
Father, remind us of Your Word in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” Let this truth anchor our hearts — real strength, clarity, and transformation flow only through our connection to You.
When impatience rises, settle our hearts. When fear whispers, replace it with Your peace. When doubt creeps in, remind us of every miracle and every moment You’ve carried us through. Draw us back to You when we rely on ourselves. Strengthen us when we feel weak, guide us when the next step is unclear, and help us trust Your perfect timing.
Lord, I ask that every Sparkle Bestie reading this be met right where they are. Comfort them, steady them, and remind them they are never alone. Cover them with Your love, wisdom, and peace.
Thank You, Lord, for going before us, standing beside us, and strengthening us within. We trust Your plan, rest in Your presence, and choose to depend on You today and always.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
As you step into your next season, may you choose surrender over striving — and peace over pressure.
